Woods Donation Brings Teacher's Legacy Home
When Mayville native, Cardinal alum and current Cardinal dad Burt Bushke purchased property with acreage and a shed from former Mayville High School industrial arts teacher Wayne Larsen's family, he didn't realize he'd have the chance to bring a piece of Mr. Larsen's teaching legacy back home to Mayville High School.
Mr. Larsen taught woods courses at MHS in the early '80's. Burt was a student of his. Within the shed on the acreage, Burt found a wealth of rough sawn lumber that had belonged to Mr. Larsen.
The Larsen family has since moved, Mrs. Larsen is now in California, and Mr. Larsen has passed on, but this teacher's legacy lives on at MHS through our Technical Education Department.
On behalf of the entire Mayville School District and the High School staff and students, our appreciation goes out to the Larsen family (and to the Bushke family) for this generous gift! You will always be a part of our Cardinal Family!
